Requirements - ----------- ### Must have: ### - We require an MS in computer science or a related quantitative field with 4+ years of AI/ML experience, or a PhD in computer science or a related quantitative discipline focused on AI/ML - We require 3+ years of experience in AI/ML, including LLM and NLP work - We require hands-on experience with LLM frameworks and/or NLP methods such as text embedding and text classification - We require strong expertise in large language modeling and transformer architectures, including prompt engineering, evaluation, and LLM optimization - We require proficiency in AI/ML engineering development using Python - We prefer experience with AI cloud services such as Azure ML, Databricks, Azure OpenAI, or comparable platforms in Google Cloud Platform or AWS - We prefer experience working with Snowflake and other relational databases - We prefer a strong publication record in leading AI/ML/NLP venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, or CHIL - We prefer excellent technical communication skills Responsibilities: - ---------------- - We apply advanced statistical methods, predictive modeling, and Agentic AI to improve healthcare and digital experiences - We collaborate with our Responsible Use of AI team to ensure delivered solutions align with company policies and standards - We research new approaches for building and assessing Agentic AI solutions and incorporate those findings into our work - We develop code, model documentation, patents, and publications for scientific conferences and journals - We partner with engineering teams to build robust data pipelines and MLOps processes for new solutions - We stay current with the latest technologies and research literature - -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Company: - ------- We are Optum Tech, a global leader in health care innovation, and our Optum AI team serves as UnitedHealth Groups enterprise AI group. The role offers remote flexibility anywhere in the U.S., with in-office attendance required at least four days per week for hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area.
