**Position: Contract Mail Carrier -- Gunnison, CO** **Company:** Rodeway Carriers LLC **Location:** Gunnison, CO **Job Type:** 1099 Independent Contractor **Schedule:** Monday--Saturday (Sundays off) ⸻ **Position Overview:** Rodeway Carriers LLC is seeking a reliable and experienced Contract Mail Carrier to service an established USPS mail route in **Gunnison, Colorado**. This position involves sorting (casing), organizing, and delivering mail and packages along the assigned route. This is a position supporting USPS operations but not employed directly by the Postal Service. This route is already established and, once the carrier becomes familiar with the casing and delivery sequence, **typically does not require as many daily hours as many other full-size delivery routes**. We are looking for someone dependable who wants consistent, long-term work and can take responsibility for keeping the route operating smoothly year-round. **Daily Responsibilities:** * Report to the Gunnison Post Office each scheduled day * Case (sort and organize) mail and packages for delivery * Load vehicle with mail, flats, and parcels * Deliver mail accurately and efficiently along the assigned route * Follow all USPS procedures for scanning, accountable mail, security, and delivery standards * Return to the post office after route completion for any required duties * Maintain organization and cleanliness of mail and equipment * Ensure the route is completed reliably **six days per week**, including during Gunnison winter conditions **Vehicle \& Equipment:** * **Contractor must provide and maintain their own reliable vehicle** * Vehicle must be dependable and appropriate for Gunnison driving and winter conditions * **Rodeway Carriers LLC provides a fuel card for fuel used to perform the route** * Contractor is responsible for ensuring their vehicle remains available and capable of completing the route throughout the year **Compensation:** * **$4,300 per month** * Paid once per month at the end of each month * **Company fuel card provided** * Consistent, year-round work * Opportunity for a long-term position with an established USPS contractor **Requirements:** * Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record * Must meet USPS screening and Administrative Official requirements * Must be able to pass background check * Must live in **Gunnison or very near Gunnison** * Strong familiarity with Gunnison and the surrounding area is highly preferred * Must understand and be prepared for Gunnison winter driving conditions * Must supply a reliable vehicle capable of completing the route in snow and adverse weather * Ability to work independently and stay organized * Dependable and punctual * Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 lbs * Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured USPS delivery and scanning procedures * Must be committed to ensuring the route is covered **Monday through Saturday regardless of normal seasonal weather conditions** **Preferred Qualifications:** * Prior delivery experience (USPS, Amazon, FedEx, UPS, rural delivery, or similar) * Previous mail casing or mail delivery experience is a plus, but not required * Knowledge of Gunnison roads, neighborhoods, and winter conditions is strongly preferred ⸻ **Preferably looking for someone who already lives in Gunnison and plans to remain in the area long-term.** **Pay is $4,300 once per month at the end of every month, plus a company-provided fuel card.
