The specialist will monitor and lead quality management and quality improvement programs for the GBMC outpatient departments and GBMC Health Partners physician practices including patient care and relations, regulatory compliance, risk management and safety, complaint resolution, emergency preparedness, performance improvement, and infection control. Provide insight for improvement initiatives based on proactive surveillance of practice environment. Utilize process improvement tools to help guide and lead improvement activities.**Education** Bachelor of Science or BSN preferred**Experience** Experience in healthcare quality preferred; minimum 2 years' experience in outpatient healthcare setting preferred**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** * Skill in using basic computers and personal productivity applications (MS Office) with strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point * Skill in written and oral communication with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills * Ability to effectively facilitate implementation of improvement and problem-solving activities and demonstrate experience in quality improvement and/or lean * Efficient with chart review/navigation of the Electronic Medical Record * Proficient in data analytics and able to compile data and facts and present findings. * Strong ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others * Manage multiple assignments and effectively organize and prioritize workload * Strong working knowledge of clinical processes **Licensures, Certifications** * Current Maryland RN license preferred * Current CPR certification * MD driver's license **Physical Requirements** * Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, bending **Working Conditions** * Normal office work environment, hospital and medical office locations * Ability to travel to multiple office locations/must have reliable transportation **Principal Duties and Responsibilities** * Identify and facilitate process improvement projects approved for implementation. * Leads systemwide performance improvement processes to continuously improve the quality of patient care and service delivery (LDM, Model for Improvement, 5S, FMEA) * Utilize quality tools and various data sources in order to analyze quality and safety issues and identify improvement opportunities. * Prepare and coordinate reports and identify trends that provide analysis of data and summary of improvement activities, reported safety events, complaints/grievances, and quality initiatives * Monitor, investigate and analyze reported safety events. Conducts RCAs and 5Why. Identify and create action plan as needed. * Prepare and coordinate emergency preparedness activities and procedures related to ambulatory locations. * Document, review, and analyze patient and visitor complaints and grievances in order to facilitate complaint resolution. Identify and create action plan as needed. * Monitor compliance of regulatory standards such as Vaccine for Children, CLIA/PPMP, CMS, TJC. Identify and create action plan as needed. Participate in survey site visits. * Document, review, and analyze patient and visitor complaints and grievances in order to facilitate complaint resolution. Identify and create action plan as needed. * Educate staff on written policies and standard work * Perform chart documentation audits and create action plan as needed. * Lead workgroups and committees as appointed. Participate in system committees as appointed. * Present key findings through presentations and Patient Stories to Quality and GBMC Health Partner leadership, providers, and staff.
