Responsibilities/Job Description: Fairview is looking for a Psychiatric Associate to join our outstanding Behavioral Emergency Response Team (**BERT).** We are conveniently located on the West Bank of the Mississippi River near downtown Minneapolis! This role is approved for**60 hours, every two weeks on the night shift (7:00PM - 7:30AM) , working 12 - hour shifts and every third weekend with a variable schedule.**This position is SEIU benefit eligible. The Psych Associate is responsible for the delivery of patient care and promotion of a therapeutic environment as delegated by and under the direction of the Registered Nurse so that goals and objectives of treatment are achieved on each unit as assigned. **Responsibilities** * Maintains safety of patient and staff by conducting the following as assigned: * Conducts safety checks of patients through visual observation and documentation. * Conducts room, belonging and unit searches. • Responds and participates in de-escalation of patient including physical intervention as trained. * Actively participates in milieu management with treatment team collaboration. * Performs basic patient daily living routines and procedures according to treatment plan * Demonstrates knowledge of signs/symptoms of mental health diagnoses and therapeutic interactions and milieu management. * Conducts educational programming with individual and/or patient groups according to appropriate treatment plan * Responds to emergency situations as trained per policy. * Participates in the treatment team's mission, goals and plans. * Acts as a member of the multi-disciplinary therapeutic team. * Exhibits verbal communication in a timely, thorough, and professional manner. * Possesses knowledge of current issues, changes and updates in Behavioral Services policies and procedures. * ADLs \& Physical Support * Provide light to medium ADL assistance, including hygiene, grooming, dressing, oral care, toileting, eating and mobility support. * Assist with supplies, setup, and patient direction regarding basic care routines. * Provide mobility support appropriate to training (e.g., gait belts, wheelchair assistance). **Required Qualifications** * 3 - 5 year of experience caring for patients with primary mental health and/or substance use disorder in an acute care setting(inpatient, ED, etc.) * 2 years Experience in mental health, healthcare, or school setting (NA, NST, PCA, behavioral tech, etc.) and * Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable individuals or high acuity behavioral needs. * Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc, Red Cross) **Additional Requirements (must be obtained or completed within a period of time)** : BERT training to be completed prior to the end of orientation. **Preferred Qualifications** * B.S./B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Health Care, Social Work, Criminal Justice or related field. * Experience in inpatient, ED, behavioral health, EMT/paramedic, emergency medical services or other related higher acuity settings such as a school, residential treatment facility, group home, etc. * De-escalation/Non-escalation Training * Workplace Conflict Management Training * BERT Training * Emergency Department * Mental Health and/or Chemical Dependence Units Qualifications: $26.06- $35.56 Hourly
