Our client is a venture-backed robotics startup building intelligent home robots designed for real-world deployment. The company is moving toward household beta deployments this year and is expanding its software platform team to accelerate ML development and iteration. This is a high-ownership role building the internal systems that power robot learning: data pipelines, experiment tooling, evaluation frameworks, and human-in-the-loop workflows. **What You'll Work On** You'll build and own the internal ML platform used by robotics ML engineers to: * Transform large-scale, multi-modal data (video + sensor streams) into structured, versioned training datasets * Run and compare large-scale experiments with reproducibility * Evaluate model performance against human ground truth * Diagnose model failures through intuitive visualization + review tooling * Accelerate the research → deployment feedback loop Your "users" are ML engineers. Your product is their speed and clarity. **What Makes This Role Different** * Direct collaboration with ML engineers and robotics teams * Real-world deployment timeline within the next year * Small team, high ownership, no heavy product bureaucracy * Ability to influence architecture from the ground up **What We're Looking For** * 5+ years building production software systems with end-to-end ownership * Strong backend engineering (Python preferred; Node.js welcome) * Comfortable building pragmatic frontend tooling (React/TypeScript) * Experience with at least one of: * ML experiment tooling / observability * Data pipelines / ETL at scale * Internal developer platforms * Strong product instincts and ability to operate without detailed specs
