The Role **As The Engineering Manager, You'll** * Lead a talent-dense engineering team: Inherit a sharp, opinionated team that ships at an elite pace. Your job is to accelerate their output, not burden them with unnecessary process. * Own the daily engineering cadence: Partner with the CTO to run 1:1s, performance management, and growth strategies. You'll own the team day-to-day and scale your scope as we grow. * Maintain a hands-on leadership approach: You aren't just a manager, you'll write code, run incidents, and build tooling, dashboards, and capacity models. * Drive enterprise-grade compliance: Own and advance our compliance programs (SOC 2 Type 2, PCI DSS) to maintain the trust of the world's largest banks. * Scale the team and talent bar: Run hiring loops to close top-tier engineers. Your success is measured by whether the team is tangibly stronger six months after a hire. Why Domu * Real traction: We are an AI-first company with $1M+ revenue per engineer, serving Fortune 500 customers with 12x YoY growth. * Unsolved technical problems: We are building infrastructure to replace call centers, handling millions of live AI-driven calls in highly regulated environments. * Ownership that's real: We don't hand out tasks from a backlog; we hire people whose judgment we trust and then get out of their way. How We Work * We enjoy hard problems: We ship things that work in production for customers who cannot tolerate any downtime. * We are a written-culture company: We value clear thinking and clear writing as the foundation of our collaboration. * Rigor and accountability: We co-own incident response and bring the level of discipline required for a real-time, regulated product. What You Bring * Proven leadership through hypergrowth: You have successfully scaled teams (e.g., 5 to 15 or 10 to 25) and have the "scar tissue" to prove it. * Engineer-first DNA: You came up through the IC track and can hold your own in deep systems design discussions with senior engineers. * Compliance fluency: You have direct experience running or being close to SOC 2, PCI, or ISO 27001 programs. * A track record of people development: You can name specific individuals you've grown and describe exactly how you helped them level up. * Operational rigor: You've run incidents, institutionalized post-mortems, and understand on-call as a culture. Extras We'd Be Excited About * Exceptional technical depth: Experience with voice/telephony or real-time systems. * Advanced compliance ownership: Having owned a compliance program end-to-end, including audit prep and control design. * Complex people management: Stories of recovering struggling engineers or promoting new managers. * Startup "Chaos" experience: You've been through the early stages before and are energized by the pace of building from scratch. Ideal Archetypes * The Hands-on Architect-Leader: An EM who still loves to ship code and refuses to manage by "ceremony," preferring to lead through technical credibility. * The Scale Specialist: Someone who has taken a small, high-performing team and tripled it without losing the "talent-dense" culture. * The High-Rigor Operator: An EM from a regulated industry (fintech/security) who balances high-speed shipping with the discipline of SOC 2 and PCI compliance. What We Offer * Meaningful equity: Own a piece of a company that is compounding rapidly. * Competitive cash compensation: Pay that reflects the high bar we set for this role. * High-impact environment: A small, elite team where you will be proud of the people you lead. **About The Interview Process** * Stage 1: 15-minute Intro: Call with Kai or Adri to discuss motivation and fit. * Stage 2: Behavioral Interview * Stage 3: Depth Interview (90 min): Systems design and technical deep dive with the engineering team * Stage 4: Team Panel (15min): Meeting the broader team to assess cultural fit and collaboration. * On-site Trial: A final session to ensure mutual excitement before the offer.
